President's Message April 2021

It is officially spring and a time of rebirth and newness. I have heard from many of you that your institutions are challenging you to reshape the way you are engaging alumni and donors in the wake of a very challenging year. We are being asked to rethink services to meet the demands of our newly virtual world. We are engaging in creative design thinking, collaborating with new campus partners, creating strategies based on collected data. We are going way beyond career coaching individuals or providing career tools on our websites as we strive to be thought leaders in the industry.

I continue to be challenged by the webinars that our Program Committee provides. In our recent webinar by Jennifer Tardy, I learned ways to infuse DE&I into my work by identifying resistance, unpacking and disrupting it, and adding tools to assist historically underrepresented populations in understanding the landscape of job searching.

Each committee is continually working toward providing you with resources to aid in your work. The Conference, Communications, and Partner Committees are working very hard on producing a wonderful conference for July. Look for a survey from the Resources and Research Committee asking what type of research would help in your work. I invite you to utilize ACSN resources to enhance your work as we step into a new season and new ways of working.

All the best,
