President's Message August 2022

This is my last letter to the ACSN community as president. How did my term of service go by so quickly?

Let me start by reflecting on the San Diego conference that just took place. What a huge success! I loved the receptions and meals held poolside in perfect California weather. I loved the thought-provoking keynote discussion featuring higher education senior executives who clearly understand the value of career services and alumni relations for institutional advancement and graduates’ success. I loved the innovative mid-day networking excursions with peers. And I loved the evening life design workshop that fueled personal and professional aspirations and growth.

Above all, the conference demonstrated that the spirit of ACSN is alive and well! As the conference concluded, people exclaimed that they were excited to meet up again at the next conference, and they were eager to share their experience with colleagues not in attendance who could benefit from being part of the ACSN community. Who could ask for anything more from a community of peers?

It has been a privilege serving you all. As I transition into the role of Past President, I will continue to support the good work that continues. There’s a role for everyone to play, and I hope you will take on an ACSN volunteer role.  I can’t wait to see where we as an organization go next!

And one more thing: please join me in offering a hearty welcome to those stepping into new board roles starting September 1:

  • Julee Bertsch – VP Organizational Development
  • Kate Sawicki – Secretary
  • Kio LaCount Burrell – President
  • Pat Fligge – Chair of Resources and Research
  • Paul Pausky – Chair of Membership

 Warmest regards,
