President's Message May 2023

Hello again friends, and welcome to May!

As we embark on Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize the importance of supporting our colleagues during this time. We all face challenges in our personal and professional lives, and it's crucial that we come together to provide support and understanding to those who may be struggling.

Here are some ways you can offer support and encouragement to those around you:

  1. Be a good listener
Take the time to actively listen to others and provide a safe space for them to express their thoughts and feelings.
  2. Show empathy
Try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and understand their perspective. Showing empathy can go a long way in making someone feel heard and understood.
  3. Encourage self-care
Encourage those around you to take time for themselves and prioritize self-care. This could be as simple as taking a walk or taking a mental health day.
  4. Be supportive
Let others know that you're there to support them and that they can come to you if they need help.
  5. Educate yourself
Take the time to learn about mental health and the resources available to support those who may be struggling. This can help you better understand how to support those close to you.

Let's all make a commitment to support each other during Mental Health Awareness Month and beyond. Together, we can create a supportive and understanding workplace culture for everyone. And if
you are someone who is struggling, please take a little time to reach out and utilize the resources available to you and know that you are not alone.

Have a great month,
Kio
