President's Message November 2020

Hello everyone,

As we approach the end of 2020 and enter into the season of thanks, it can be difficult to name that for which we are thankful. The pandemic, civil unrest, an election year all certainly play into our well-being. We are alumni career services professionals who supported our many alumni in job loss, quickly increased our program offerings, and assisted our university colleagues in pivoting into the virtual world while trying to take care of our families and ourselves. You are heroes to many.

I was reading one of several articles about wellness. The author suggested taking three simple steps each day.

  1. Think of one thing for which you are grateful.
  2. Think of one thing that brings you joy.
  3. Do one thing that makes the world a better place.

While simple, it is a start to giving others and ourselves a little grace. So regarding ACSN, here are my thoughts for today.

  1. I am grateful for supportive colleagues always willing to share their expertise and creative ideas in order to help one another succeed, especially the 18 volunteers who just stepped up to serve on our committees.
  2. In this role, it brings me joy to dialogue with members and partners to face our current challenges with creative solutions and continue to be the thought leaders in the industry.
  3. Currently the national unemployment rate dipped to 6.9%. I hope that this continues to move in the right direction. We are making a difference in people’s lives through our services, which makes the world a better place.

I am thankful for this organization and all of you.

Best wishes,
