President's Message October 2022

Happy Fall, y’all!

Whether you’re in a region where autumn has arrived in earnest, or in an area still hanging on to the vestiges of summer, I hope that you’re settling into the new academic year successfully.  Fall is the time of year where we see nature taking its course, letting go of some old things in order to make room for new growth in the coming months.  And like the world around us, I like to use the change in season as a catalyst to evaluate and re-prioritize the (many) things on my plate during this time of year.  Right now is a good time to do some reflection before getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the coming holidays, and assess some of your impacts from the year so far.

  • What are some things you’ve accomplished this year that you’re proud of?  What have you been able to “check off” your mental (or actual) big list of to-do’s?
  • Were there places where you were a bit overly ambitious, and unable to get things done?  Are you in need of realignment to be sure that you’re entering the last quarter of this year on a positive note?
  • What are you looking forward to in the next few months?

That last question tends to be my favorite, as I like to think of October as my month of Optimism.  When I look back on my ACSN journey this year, I am so proud of all that we have accomplished.  From an amazing summer conference to kicking off the fall with excellent programming that provides value to our wonderful members like you, this year is off to a roaring success.  There are opportunities for us to work together in shoring up our expertise for greater use among the wider membership and moving more in alignment with our organizational goals, and I am looking forward to giving more details about those efforts in the coming weeks.

I’d also like to hear from you!  Feel free to connect with me via email (or even better, drop a note in the ACSN LinkedIn group) and let us know what you’re proud of so far this year, what you might want to let go of to realign yourself, or what you’re looking forward to as we launch the last quarter of 2022.

I’m looking forward to reading and hearing from you!
