Keynote Speaker >> Andy Shaindlin | Brown University

These are no doubt challenging times - for our alumni, our professions, and the world-at-large. With many uncertainties about the future, it can be difficult to effectively engage and serve our constituents. In this session, Andy will discuss important ways colleges and universities are r
eimagining higher education and share industry trends for our alumni and ourselves.

Andy Shaindlin brings more than 31 years of experience to the role of Vice President for Alumni Relations at Brown University, with expertise in alumni relations, non-profit strategy, volunteer engagement, leadership training, and consulting for professionals in educational leadership. Most recently, Andy was Vice President with the global strategy consulting firm Grenzebach Glier and Associates (GG+A), where he worked with institutions in North America, Europe, and Australia on alumni strategy and program design. He has served as Chair of the Commission on Alumni Relations for the Council for Advancement & Support of Education (CASE) and was also a CASE Trustee. He is currently a Trustee of the American Councils for International Education, a CASE Laureate, and a member of the CASE Alumni Engagement Metrics Task Force. Andy was the founder and author of Alumni Futures, which he launched in 2007 as the first website specifically for alumni relations professionals.

Dr. Ashley Grice | Carnegie Mellon University | Pronouns: she/her

Far too often, the culture of engagement primarily consists of hosting events, programs and reunions. While events are important, intentional engagement goes beyond what meets the eye. Participants within this session will learn fundamental strategies and gain important tools for maximizing engagement opportunities among minoritized constituents across the spectrums of Race, Gender and Sexuality at all levels of alumni engagement.

Dr. Grice is an educator, social justice advocate, and equity-based practitioner in the division of University Advancement at Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, she is an Associate Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement, where she plays an integral role in DEI initiatives for the Division and manages engagement for minoritized alumni and student populations with an affinity to the University. Facilitating conversations on topics related to intersectionality, anti-racist practices across industries and reproductive justice are just a few of Dr. Grice’s passion areas.
